Two groups of students from the IES Hozgarganta secondary school in Jimena de la Frontera visited the Casa de la Memoria on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 November. They were given a guided tour by Andrés Rebolledo, a board member of the Casa Memoria and the Foro por la Memoria del Campo de Gibraltar, who explained what happened at La Sauceda and El Marrufo, and about how prisoners were used as slave labour by the Franco regime after the end of the civil war, to build roads, bunkers and much more as part of Franco’s plans to enter the Second World War alongside Hitler.
The 64 students showed a keen interest in all they learned during the visit, and signed the visitors’ book with a note of thanks before leaving.
