On Thursday 28 October a group of Palestinian students visited the Casa de la Memoria La Sauceda. They are from Jalbun, in Jenin, and were on a multicultural encounter in Jimena de la Frontera, thanks to the work of the Coopération Bages-Jalboun association in France.
During the visit, a team from the Casa Memoria explained what the Historical Memory movement in the Campo de Gibraltar area is about and is doing, and especially what had happened at La Sauceda.
The students then talked about the situation of conflict with the state of Israel, comparing the reality experienced by the people of Palestine and local refugees with that of the Spanish citizens who suffered violence from Franco and the regime during the Civil War and the subsequent dictatorship.
French and Palestinian monitors who also speak Spanish provided simultaneous translation during the two-hour visit.
It was a very interesting and valuable experience for everyone, and we are grateful for the opportunity to have welcomed them to the Casa de la Memoria.
